About
Birmingham Mutual Aid
Birmingham Mutual Aid is a grassroots, Black-led mutual aid network supporting underserved and vulnerable populations across the city. With a mission grounded in equity, solidarity, and immediacy, the group organizes mobile relief and care—distributing food boxes, hygiene kits, clothing, and offering informal healthcare access and peer support. They are especially committed to uplifting LGBTQ+ youth, the houseless community, and economically disenfranchised neighbors.
The network operates through decentralized Signal groups and popup community events such as “Little Free Closets” and street-based healing circles. Their model is built on trust, accessibility, and radical care—welcoming all without gatekeeping or bureaucracy.
