About
The Soul Book Nook
Founded by Amber Collins during the pandemic, The Soul Book Nook began as a mobile bookstore and opened its physical location in 2020. Created as a source of healing and empowerment for the Waterloo community, it emphasizes literature by and for historically marginalized voices—especially Black, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and people of color.
The shop features over 2,000 titles, both new and used, and hosts a wide range of community programming including author talks, STEM workshops, open mics, and art installations. The space also includes a cozy café corner and a local art gallery, making it both a literary and cultural destination.
