MahoganyBooks is a Black-owned, family-run independent bookstore founded in 2007 by Derrick and Ramunda Young. Initially established as an online retailer, MahoganyBooks specializes in literature written for, by, or about people of the African Diaspora. In 2017, they opened their first physical location in Washington, DC, followed by a second location in National Harbor, Maryland, in 2021. The bookstore is committed to promoting reading, writing, and cultural awareness to enrich the lives of individuals and communities.
