Founded in Brooklyn, New York, the Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation is a Black-led nonprofit organization devoted to preserving and celebrating African cultural traditions through education, dance, music, and performance. Named after the Ghanaian Earth goddess Asase Yaa, the foundation embodies a deep spiritual and cultural mission.
With a passionate commitment to community uplift and youth development, Asase Yaa offers year-round programs including cultural arts camps, dance and drum classes, and school partnerships. It’s best known for its African American Children’s Book Fair, youth performance ensemble, and breathtaking theatrical productions.
